Cosmetic damage. Broken glass cooktops from impact, cracked porcelain, rusted racks — not covered.
Self-cleaning cycle damage. Control board failures caused by running the self-cleaning cycle are explicitly excluded by many companies. The self-clean cycle runs at extreme temperatures and can cause failures. Check your contract.
Rack and interior parts. Oven racks, broiler pans, interior light bulbs — not covered.
Commercial or restaurant-grade ranges. If your home has a Wolf or Viking professional-grade range, confirm your warranty company covers it. Coverage caps may be insufficient for high-end repair costs.
Knobs and handles. Physical breakage of knobs and handles is often excluded as non-mechanical.
This is underappreciated. Running the self-clean cycle voids or complicates oven coverage on some plans. Read your contract before using self-clean, especially on an older range.
Oven and range caps are typically $500-$1,500. Most repairs fall within this range. High-end professional range repairs ($800-$2,000+) can exceed caps.
If your kitchen has a separate cooktop and wall oven, verify both are covered. Some plans distinguish between them. Integrated appliances (range hood with oven) may have coverage nuances.
