Climate and Coverage Context
New Hampshire's climate puts heating under strain, in our reading
New Hampshire has cold, snowy winters and mild summers, with frequent precipitation because several storm tracks cross the state. The state has warmed by more than 3 degrees F since the start of the 20th century, and winter has warmed more than any other season. Average July highs run from 75 to 80 F in the north and from 80 to 85 F in the south, and the statewide annual precipitation average is 48.8 inches (1991 to 2020 normals).
Heating does most of the work here, so check that a plan covers furnaces and boilers and what its HVAC cap is.

How New Hampshire Regulates Home Warranties
Regulator
New Hampshire Insurance Department
Legal framework
Consumer guaranty contracts (RSA 415-C)
The New Hampshire Insurance Department says sales of consumer guaranty contracts, which include home service contracts, are governed by RSA 415-C and require registration. Under Senate Bill 515, effective January 1, 2025, offerors must file their contract forms and annual lists of administrators and sellers, and marketing standards were tightened. The Department has taken action against home warranty sellers, including a cease and desist order against Amazon Home Warranty for selling without registration (Docket INS 23-023-EP). It advises consumers to contact it to confirm that a company is registered and has proof of solvency.
Type of rules: Home-specific rules. A law or program that names home warranties, home service contracts or residential service contracts.
Checked against the official sources listed below. Researched October 2026; laws and agency pages change, so confirm with the regulator before you rely on a detail.

Check registration
The Insurance Department says sales of consumer guaranty contracts, which include home service contracts, require registration under RSA 415-C, and it issued a cease and desist order against Amazon Home Warranty for selling without registration. Since January 1, 2025, offerors must also file their contract forms. Details
Confirm coverage for your address
5 companies in our data serve only some states and are marked "check availability" for New Hampshire. Confirm with the company that your address is covered before you spend time on a quote.
Filing a Complaint in New Hampshire
If a company denies a claim you think is valid or stops responding, put your complaint to the company in writing first. New Hampshire's state office below takes consumer complaints about businesses in general, so it is a place to file a home warranty dispute, but it is not a home warranty regulator by that fact alone. Who regulates the contract is covered in the regulation section above.
New Hampshire Department of Justice: consumer complaints
The Consumer Protection and Antitrust Bureau requires complaints in writing on its complaint form. Online filing needs an account with the state, and the printable form can be mailed or emailed.
This paraphrases the office's own page as found in October 2026. Offices change their forms and procedures, so confirm on the page before you file.
